Bike ride to New Abbey via a footpath through farmers' fields, and including a brief detour to Carsethorn on a much sunnier day - frankly not paying much attention to birdlife in view of forthcoming events next week.  There have been some interesting sightings at Carsethorn lately including white wagtail but I didn't get much time there at low tide. There wasn't much to see apart from a pleasant view of the Steamboat Inn (pictured below).

Was a bit more concerned not to see any butterflies on the Kirkconnel Flow butterfly walk on the way back.  Testimony perhaps to the prevailing poor weather over the past six weeks, all I managed was a couple of small moths and one dragonfly.  Could be a poor summer for butterflies.
